Thank you, Kind Friends

Bella Noodling in Poppa's Lap for Comfort

We thank you for all your kind encouragement during our time of sadness. The DWB community is so supportive.

Momma is going tomorrow to visit Casey. She promises to take pictures to post on the blog. Her family said she passed the ultimate 'kid' test yesterday. One of her kid-brothers pried her mouth open and tried to tickle her tonsils and she didn't fuss one bit. What a good girl she was.

The family has used the episode as a learning tool for the young child of how NOT to treat the dog. Casey has used the episode as a learning tool of when to stay away from the child.Peaches in mourning for her niece.

We're still sad, but moving along now.

Bella Sick after Surgery, 2 Puppies Come Back.

Sissie Bella got sick after her surgery. Her belly started oozing, and she felt hot if you touched her body. She was laying around and feeling sicko. She wasn't even interested in her food. Now, that's sick!

I, Peaches, tried to eat her breakfast the other day, but Momma yelled at me and shooed me away. Darn it. I just didn't want it to go to waste. See how responsible I am, Momma!

Momma called Bella's dogter that night and so she had to go see him the next morning. Daddy took her down there and she came back with a bottle of blue pills. Its a pretty good deal. Apparently, the pills have to be eaten with peanut butter. Daddy dips them in peanut butter and lets Bella eat them that way. If we act really cute, Daddy gives us a taste of peanut butter, too! Mmmmmm. This is Cass. She still needs to find a new home. I guess we haven't blogged on it yet, but Cass' first Momma just couldn't handle her. She has always adopted adult dogs from shelters and never had a crazy puppy. So, she brought her back to us and Momma is trying desperately to find her a new home. Some people have told Momma they are thinking about it, but so far, no one has adopted her. She's kind of like the Cinderella puppy. The last one to get invited to the dance. Poor girl. But we love her!

Baby Casey is visiting because we are puppysitting her while her family goes on a canoe trip. The girls are having fun wrasslin with each other again. They try to bother us when they get out of their pen to play, but we grrr at them and make them get away. We're tired of all that puppy nonsense! Hopefully soon we can be just us grown-up dogs and not have to worry about all these babies!

Campin Review

Yep, we went campin' again. This time we went to Wallace State Park here in NW Missouri. It didn't take us long to drive there. Mom and Dad say that gas costs too much to camp too far away. But, it was fun. We had a great time.

Mostly we watched other doggeriffic people. There was a Cocker Spaniel and a Chesapeake Bay Retriever in the campground next to us. They didn't say much. We tried to bark at them to get their attention. (Momma yelled at us for that. Uhhh, sorry, Mom.) The CBR had to stay in a crate all weekend and only got to get out a few times a day. We felt sorry for her. I think only once did we see her Daddy take her for a walk on the hiking trails.

Cass was such a good girl! Momma crated her at night and she didn't potty even once in her crate! She went for walks with us, but she had to be carried most of the time. She got worn out easy because of her short little legs. Plus it was way hot.

The Beagley girls kept an eye on the other campsites. You can see them in the picture Momma took while they were on lookout. We are all on tethers when we're lounging around the campsite. Its a rule there. They got so worn out being on lookout that they had to take a nap in the gravel around the fire ring. Is gravel comfortable to beagles? I don't get it. I like the cool grass.

Another rule that we think is yukky is that they are only going to allow 2 pets per campsite after this year. What kind of rule is that! Lady doesn't care, cuz she doesn't go camping any more (heat's too hot for her since she's old). But the rest of us are wondering, who is going to have to stay home!

Momma's all upset about that. She says that last year her and Daddy voted for the tax renewal for the state parks program. Now that they got that renewed, they are charging $2 more per night, and they're going to kick some of the dogs out!

We realize that some hoomans don't like dogs. (We don't understand it, but we realize it as a truth). Our Momma always cleans up after us and makes sure we aren't bothering other campers. If there are doggies with bad hoomans that don't do that, maybe they should ask them to leave instead of kicking us rule-abiding, tax-paying canines out.

Pardon me while I step down off my soap-crate.

All in all, it was a fab weekend. We played ball (even Cass did), took hikes, slept a lot, and ate food off the BBQ. Yumm, Yumm!

Till next blog,

Campin'

Oh Our Dogness! We've been camping for 5 days. A camper full of canines. How fun is that. Even Cass went! She did so good. she didn't potty in the camper even once. Momma says she has already crate trained herself. She's so smart. She deserves a very special home.

We'll post later after we get some rest and post some pics from our trip. Couldn't post from the campground, no computer there.
Bark at ya later!

Fun 4th

Aunt Jan came over for lunch on Independence Day. She brought Sheridan's Frozen Yogurt to share with EVERYone. Even us 4-leggers. We love Aunt Jan! She's so considerate. She doesn't discriminate like some do just because we're vertically challenged, have trouble vocalizing the English language, and we walk on all fours. Did I mention, we looooove Aunt Jan? Well, we do.

Us dogs had to eat our frozen yogurt off dishes on the floor. The beloved puppies got theirs served in fancy desert dishes and got to stand ON THE TABLE (which, may I remind you, Bella got in big trouble for standing on the table... Hmmmph). So, we know where we all rank in the heierarchy of the pack as far as the humans are concerned. As long as you're cute and have no potty manners, balance, coordination or ability to guard the house, you rate higher. Once you become a contributing member of the pack, you are lowered to eat off the floor! Double Hmmmmph.

We are going to miss the little devils, though. We heard Mom say they're going to get shot Saturday. too bad. We'll miss them. Maybe that's why they spoiled them yesterday. Sort of like their last supper. Who knows. We are so confused. We also hear Mom and Dad talking about Casey's new family picking her up Saturday afternoon. Hmmm? I guess we will just have to wait and see.

We hope everyone had a very safe holiday and came out of it with their tail and all 4 paws in tact.
Have a fab day!

Mmmmm Yummy Pawsicles

Mmmmmm. Momma made the pawsicle recipe that was on "The Dogs of Jackman Ave" dogblog. Man, were they good! Jackson, you are a lucky, lucky dog. We all got some, except the puppies. Momma didn't know if it would be okay for their young tummies.

We're counting down. Its only a week away from Casey the puppy going to her new home. Her family is excited, though, and we're glad that they're still looking forward to having Casey. We don't want anyone to have adopters remorse.

Momma says she has a prospect for Cass and for Lewis. She has told people to think hard about it. She doesn't want anyone changing their minds later, and having one of our babies ending up in a shelter like Bella did. Puppies are hard work. There's no way around it. I know me and Peaches having been working round the clock taking care of these three! Shew.

Enjoy the pictures. Enjoy your weekends.
Luv ya all lots.

Camping Trip

We camped. It was like a dog park! Momma's brother and sister-in-law, Tim and Nancy were there with their two German Shepherds, Rance and Carley. Daddy's son, John was there with his Mom's new yellow lab puppy, Dino. There's a picture of me getting acquainted with him. And of course, me and Peaches were there. Such fun!

There's a picture of me looking through the window of the camper. That's when I got grounded for barking too much while the humans were grilling and trying to eat their supper. All I wanted was to help... them finish their meals. Rance and Carley headed back home Saturday morning. Saturday afternoon, the rest of us hounds went for a walk in the woods while Dad and John went out on a fishing boat. There's a picture of Peaches panting. It was really hot and humid and we all panted a lot.

Friday Peaches' belly got all bloated up like she had swallowed a whole cantaloupe. She was crying a lot. She almost got taken to the doggie E.R. She started having gas - ooh smelly gas, though and felt some better. On Saturday she had bad poopies all day, just like Joe Stains after he ate the hot dog (Check out Joe Stains dog blog. He's way cool.) By Sunday, she was her usual self.

We slept hard on the way home on our pink blankie in the back seat of the truck. Patrick rode there with us too in his travel cage. Momma says it was too hot for him to travel in the camper like he usually does.

See ya'll another time.
Love, Eddie

Goin Campin

Bella was so funny today. Momma has a tarp over the puppy pen to be sure they have plenty of shade (as if 2 giant maple trees aren't enough). Anyway, she had it pulled back for a while, and Bella climbed in for a nap. Like it was a doggie hammock! Hah. Everyone got a kick out of it. Why didn't we think of that, Peaches? Bella is so smart!

The house painting is almost finished! Momma says we get to go camping. Yippee! Mom and Dad took Bella and her babies over to Auntie Jan's tonight. Auntie Jan is going to puppysit them. We already miss them. I, Eddie, am their guardian Uncle and I worry that they'll be okay. Momma says that Auntie Jan has raised puppies before and she will take good care of them.

Lady has been slow lately and the heat might bother her, so she is going to stay at Grandmas while we're gone. Momma and Dad are worried that the heat will be too much for her since she's so old. So, it'll just be me, Eddie, and Peaches, and our green, feathered brother Patrick the screamer.

We will blog when we get back. Luv you all. Have a great rest-of-the-week.

Arial views of Beagles

Mom and Dad painted on the house this evening. It was great! Mom had kibble in her hand, and was throwing us a piece every few minutes. Yum, yum. She got these great arial shots of us from way up on the ladder. HAH!

Look at the stripe of paint down Peaches back! She looks like skunk. Hah hah hah.

Mom took a zillion and a half pictures of the babies tonight, too cuz they're starting to wrastle with each other and climb over stuff. They're really cute. Mom sez her bad reeze died though, and the camera didn't save any of them. Mom was a little peeved at that. I just want to know if bad reeze are anything like a bad beagles?j

We will try puppy pictures again tomorrow. They're all sleeping now.

Play hard, then rest.

Happy-Sad Day

I got my haircut finished today. I was a little put out afterwards. I felt nekid. Momma put a bright bandana on me and I got to go for a car ride. Then I felt much better. Here is a picture of me in my bandana with my new haircut.

A family came over today and played with the puppies. Then they picked one out that they said they were going to take it home with them! Oh no! Mom wouldn't let that happen would she? Happily, she told them that the babies need to stay with Bella at least another month. Sadly, that means that one of them will be going away from us one day.

The family seemed very happy. The little boy hugged the baby a lot and gave her kisses. They kissed Bella, too, and told her thank you for the sweet puppy. The family picked out a girl, puppy #3 and named her Casey. They were already talking about all the things they would need to do to get ready for her when she does come to their house. I think they will take good care of her but as her uncle, I do worry.

Mom and Dad talked this evening about still needing to find nice homes for the other two. Does that mean all the babies are going to be going away? I sure will miss them a lot.

Bella & Babies Have Guests

Hah! Mom took a picture of Lady and Bella peeking out from the privacy fence when she got home today. Aren't they funny!

Bella's foster-Mom came to see her and the babies this morning. When Bella's former family dumped her, it was at this ladies house. She fed her and took care of her, tried to find her family, but ended up letting her go because she could not keep her. That's where we came in. We adopted her from the shelter where foster-Mom had taken Bella.

Foster-Mom was glad to see the babies, and that Bella is doing well. She brought her a present - some packets of her favorite food, and a puppy-feeding tray that has a hump in the middle. She says it keeps all the food to the outside edge and helps to keep the puppies from ending up walking through their food. How nice of her to think of Bella and the babies so kindly.

Foster-Mom even brought her own kids, a trio of beautiful Golden Retrievers. I think Bella remembered them. She definately remembered Foster-Mom and gave her lots of kisses.

Foster-Mom agrees with my Mom and Dad that the babies might very possibly be half labrador. She says their heads look like golden retriever heads when they're puppies. Hmm. Does that make them "Labradeagles" or "Beagrador Retriever Hounds"?

The new clippers came today. Mom has already started clipping me. She did part of it tonight (knocking off the big stuff). She says we'll finish tomorrow and have a bath after. The new clippers sure do work a lot better. They buzzed right through my thick cottony white hair. Ahhhhh. I actually feel better getting that carpet of hair off my back.

Enjoy the pictures. See ya'll later.

Big evening

We had a big evening here. Mom came home with some fence wire and posts and made a temporary pen in the back yard for the babies. Its under 2 big shade trees so they can play in the shade. Mom and Dad moved the babies tub out in it for now to see how Bella would do with them out there. She was fine. She's so laid back. "Whatever," she says.

Check out the Bubble picture reel for new pics of the babies. The girls' eyes are starting to open. You can see shininess through the little slits that have opened. The little boy is still keeping his eyes shut tight.

Here's a picture of me checking out the babies new play pen. I have to make sure its okay for them, you know. As an uncle I have a big responsibility!

Now the good news/bad news part of my post. You probably all noticed that my hair is getting pretty long. Mom always gives me my haircuts. Good news, her clippers died. Bad news, she ordered new ones. They're supposed to be here by next Wednesday. So, I get to run around furry for a few more days! Yippee!

Be nice to yourselves and everyone you meet.

Eddie Meets a Puppy

I got to meet one of Bella's puppies! It was so exciting. Mom was holding one of them while sitting in Bella's pen with the door open. I slowly and quietly walked up. Bella didn't seem to care, so Mom let me approach. I got to sniff the baby! It was so exciting it made my tail wag. Bella kept a close watch while I sniffed, and I didn't stay long.

I got to sniff puppy #1, a girl. Mom and Dad have started calling her "Miss Piggy" because she eats so much and she's getting a big round belly. She's really cute, but they still don't really look like dogs, or even little dogs.

Tonight Mom had a panic that one of the babies was.... well, you know. Anyway, the puppy was laying on its back, belly up, all by itself on the edge of the pen. It was really cute, all belly-up and everything. When Mom figured out it was breathing, she started breathing again, too.

Bella is starting to venture out a little more from the pen. Mom leaves the gate open just wide enough for her to get in and out and she has started answering some of the 'alarms' with us that the neighbor dogs sound.

I don't have a new picture of the puppies. Momma says they still look the same and will take more pictures after their eyes open. So, I thought I'd post a picture of my Grandpa and me. Grandpa came to visit last weekend after the babies were born. I think he still likes me more, though.
Everyone have a fabulous day!

New sister's new name

Our new sister has been named! Daddy named her "Bella." We like the name. It fits her. She looks like the old world kind of beagle. She does have a longer snout, and crookeddy legs, and a longer-than-normal tail for a beagle, but we love her anyway.
Mom and Dad were feeling her tummy this morning. They said they feel babies in there wrasslin' around.
Mom's going to the store today to get stuff to make a whelping box for Bella to have her babies in. The doggie doctor thought she was 1-2 weeks from having her babies, but Mom thinks its sooner. she is getting full teats already, and her bottom is getting droopy.

Everyone here is getting along fine. Bella has fit right into our routine. She likes to bark at the neighbors and trucks going down the street (from inside our fence, of course), and at the mailman when he comes to our box. She's lots of fun.
Thought for the day: Be a friend. Someone might need one.

NEW SISTER, AAAAND CUZZINS!!!

Mom came home from work today and told us we are getting a new sister. And, she is going to have puppies in a couple weeks.
You never know how your day is going to turn out, do you!

While on the way to work, Mom stopped for gas and there was a poster someone put up with pictures of a beagle who had showed up at this lady's doorstep. The lady was trying to find the owner, or find a home for the beagle. She has Golden Retrievers and could not keep the beagle.

So, long story short, Mom adopted beagle and is bringing her home tomorrow. She is at the vets overnight for observation, deworming, vet check-up and to be sure she doesn't bring home any icky sicknesses to us.

We can't wait to meet her. Mom says she's just a little smaller than sissy Peaches and doesn't have any white on her face. She is very light boned, like Peaches which is more like the UKC hunting type beagles instead of the stockier AKC show ring types. Mom says she's really sweet and likes to give hugs and kisses, too.

Okay, Peaches is a little sad. She has been Momma's baby for the past year and now, there are going to be a lot of babies running around... till Momma finds them homes with nice families. I, Eddie, know that Momma will still love us just as much and it'll be okay.

We have no idea what her name is, or how old she is. The vet told Momma that he thinks she is between 1 and 3 years old. Hmm, that's a big range.

We hope she likes us. We are going to go pick out a collar for her tonight so she will have clothes to wear home. Momma says she didn't have a stitch of clothing on. So sad.

We will take a picture for you all to meet her online when we have her here at home.
