Happy Independence Day!

We've been camping since last Friday! We came home so Momma and Poppa could do some laundry and restock the camper fridge.
Unfortunately, this year the Missouri State Parks folks won't let more than 2 dogs camp at a campsite unless they are like service dogs or something, or have their CGC (Canine Good Citizenship) certificate from the AKC. So, next week, we are meeting with Bella's teacher to have a pre-evaluation and see where we all stand. She is going to tell Mom what a
ll we need work on. Then when Momma thinks we're ready, we will have to take a test.

I HOPE Eddie can find his glasses by then! I think he packed them away with the Christmas cards. That's about the only time he uses them, but he will prolly need them for the test.
Anyway, since only 2 doggies can go, Eddie has stayed at Gramma's. Lady, because she is so old a decrepittated is staying home and a dog-sitter comes by to take care of her a couple times a day. Gramma was a fraid to have her over in case something happened.
So, Me (Peaches) and Bella got to go camping. I sneaked up into Momma and Poppa's bed when they weren't looking! Tee hee!

Here's our Grandpeoples. They came and camped with us for part of our trip. We all took walks. They like to walk us. We like it, too. We'r glad they came camping with us. By the way, Bella says to tell you that she was NOT pulling that child along. He was just going too slow and she was trying to get him to go faster.
So, we're going back to camping soon. See ya'll later.

Beagle Buddies and Camping

We met some nice beagles recently. We joined this Beagle Buddies group in our town. They get together once a month and let all the beagles run around together and play. Its really cool. Momma thought we would all run together like hunting beagles do in a pack, but instead, we all just sniffed everything for a long time. Then we trotted around together.

Here's some of us getting a drink. Recognize the fluffy one?? Tee hee! Its ME! Eddie!!! I am only half beagle, but they let me join in, too.

Here's Peaches doing what she does best... Sleeping! We were camping. Doesn't matter where we are, she manages to find a good place to snooze. She's not choozey when it comes to snoozey. Hee Hee. I made a rhyme!

Here's me, Eddie, with my new haircut on the way to camping. I know, I look kinda weird for a few days right after its cut. Its had a week's growth now. It looks much better.
Keep on woofin!

Getting ready to camp at Butchys

We are so looking forward to going to Butchy's Burfday Campover. We're gonna have so much fun. We are getting some of our stuff ready to go. We asked Momma if we could take some marshmallows, grahmmies and chocolate bars but Momma said NO! That would be bad for us. Bummer.

Momma took pitchurs of us with our sleeping bags, lantern and toys, but sumthin's wrong with the camra and the computer can't find the pitchurs on it. She sez she's gonna figger it out.

We're used to camping in our camper. It will be fun to camp in the cabins at Butchys!
See you soon!

Catching up on news and pics

So, here we are, only 9 days since we posted last! Oh my. Butchy and Snickers, our mentors, must be so ashamed of us. But, we've been busy little beagles. We've been camping, and going to classes, and taking lots of walks...

Here we are at our cousin's place . The big black German Shepherd is Carlie. You can kind of see her brother, Rance behind her and the tree. We had lots of fun together. It was like our own private dog park.
Here's the campsite with all us mutts milling around. So nice!

Here's a better picture of Carlie Bear. You notice that her right ear is lopped off. She was rescued in Chicago from a place where someone had LOTS of dogs. Most of them were starving to death. Carlie had been a breeder dog. When the ASPCA and police came in and busted the place, Carlie was nearly dead. She has had many surgeries to bring her back to good health. Today she is happy and we love to play with her. We're glad that some good hoomans came in and saved her and the rest of the doggies there.
We couldn't find any good pictures of Rance from the camping trip, so we dug into our old files and found this one from when he visited our house last year. Rance was a leader-dog puppy. Our auntie raised him for the Leader Dog people, but when he was old enough to go back and be someone's helper dog, he x-rayed with elbow displaysia. So, he washed out of the program and Auntie got first dibs on adopting him since she had raised him. They are living happily ever after. Only problem with Rance is that he thinks he is "Prince Rance". Hmmmph.
We took walks on the trails. Lots to sniff down there, ya know. Deer, turkeys, bunnies, squirrels, turdles (yes, we mean turdles... Our special name for those hard-shelled creatures).
When we got home, we were all tuckered out. Here's Peaches on her favorite blankie getting some rest.
On our camping trip last weekend, we went to Nebraska. We got stuck behind this really cool truck that Poppa called a tractor. Whatever! It was cool and we told the driver so when we finally got to pass him.
Across from our campsite in Nebraska was a pond and these geese kept teasing us. They would come over by us, then turn around and laugh and waddle away. They KNEW we couldn't get to them. Grrrrr.
Then, we saw this really cool tree with a wart on its side. The tree is really tall and the wart is really big. Its about as big as 4 or 5 Rotties all piled up on top of each other.

We heard Momma and Poppa saying camping season is going to end soon. We sure will miss camping over the winter. Maybe we can go once or twice before they put away the camper. We're keeping our paws and tails crossed.

Bella graduated. Momma forgot the camera! But, she promises to take a picture of Bella sitting nicely with her certificate. We'll post it later.
Well, I think that catches us up.
Later doggles & GG,
Eddie

Howdy!

We haven't got any pictures to post, but wanted to check in. Short but sweet. Kind of like beagles! Tee hee!

We have been gone camping. We met up with our German Shepherd cousins Carlie & Rance. They're lots of fun. I think Momma has some pictures, but hasn't got them put on the computer yet.

We're only home for a couple days, then we're going camping again. Poppa has to work out of town, so we're making a camping trip out of it. Woo Hoo!

Bella has graduation tomorrow night. I wonder if she will wear a cap and gown? Hmm. Momma has already signed Bella up for another class. Its called "Agility for Fun." We think she will be really good at it since she can jump up on kitchen tables and other big stuff. She's fearless. She will do anything!

Take care pups & GG.

Camping Report at Last

Hi, All. We can't figure out why there is an underline under our typing. Just being dogs, it is beyond our body of knowledge.

So, Oh, okay. The line went away! Well, anyway, as you can see, I was helping Dad find the campground. I took my car riding medication before we left home, so I was feelin' fine about the trip. I love camping, I just don't love getting there!

Here is me and Bella waiting for Dad to come back from checking us in at the campground. WHAT TOOK HIM SO LONG, we don't know. We were ready to get OUT of the truck and smell the new place. So, there... Oh my, the line is back! Sorry. Anyway, here's me and Bella watching Momma and Poppa set up camp. IE: Back the camper up and plug it in so we have air conditioning. Life is hard.
Here's the... Oh, I give up! Line is gone now. Who knows! Maybe my fat pawpads are hitting some button??? Anyway, as I was baying, here's the view from our campsite. We were at Pawnee State Rec Area near Lincoln, Nebraska. Anyone from there? Its a really nice campground and park.

So, the next morning, our whole family went for a walk down the trail to the lake. Here's Bella checking it out. We couldn't get in to swim because they had something they called Toxic Blue-Green Algae. Yuck!

We were feelin pretty frisky and decided to wrastle, but Momma and Poppa said no. Not while we were on leash. We said, okay, let us off the leashes, but they said it wasn't allowed, and they didn't trust us. Something about park rules, and about us chasing bunnies and disappearing forever? Who knows. Tee hee hee.
I decided to wade through the tall weeds. It made me feel like a real hunting beagle! Barooooo!
Look how happy I am! I have a smile from ear to floppy ear!
One last look at the lake before we head back up the trail to our campsite for a nappie.
We took a slightly different path back, and went past this really stiff guy holding up a stiff eagle. Momma said that's probably a statue of a Pawnee chief. He looked like he was carved right out of a tree! Momma wanted us to sit nicely in front of poppa for this picture, but as you can see, we had other ideas! We saw a Chihuahua and just HAD to watch him and let him know he had k-9 supporters in camp!
We came across this flagpole that had coneflowers and black-eyed-susans around it (That's what Momma called them). They were really purtty. They smelled good, too. We think someone peed there earlier.

Momma got this bright idea to take our picture in front of the flowers. Attempt #1: Bella is looking away, instead of at the camera. Notice I am posing very nicely and smiling. Cheeeeeze.
Attempt #2: I smile again, very cutely while Bella looks the OTHER way. NOT at the camera! Ughhh.
Attempt #3. For whatever reason, Bella decides to give me a KISS! Right when Momma tries to take the picture. Grrrrr. I'm getting irritated now. And its hard to keep smiling!
Attempt #4: Bella, doing a good job, FINALLY! But, MOMMA snapped the picture just when I blinked. Darn it, Momma!
5th Time's a charm. Aren't we too cute! Awwwww.
At last, back at the campsite. We all got a needed nap.
And, we had lots of cool stuff to dream about...
This is Petey. He lives with a friend of Poppas who came out to the campsite one day to see Poppa. Petey is old, like Lady. He didn't want to play. He just laid around while the hoomans talked about stuff. Petey's an okay guy.
After 4 days of camping, we were all pooped out. (Momma and Poppa picked it all up, though.) So we headed home. Bella wanted to navigate us home, so I let her take the helm next to Poppa. Here she is looking off into a corn field. Geez! This girl's got some learnin' to do!
I was happy to get home till we learned about Puppy Lewis' death. Then all our happiness kinda crashed. Poppa went to Grandma's that night and got Eddie & Lady and brought them home. We were so happy to see each other.

Love each other.

Peaches

Campin Review

Yep, we went campin' again. This time we went to Wallace State Park here in NW Missouri. It didn't take us long to drive there. Mom and Dad say that gas costs too much to camp too far away. But, it was fun. We had a great time.

Mostly we watched other doggeriffic people. There was a Cocker Spaniel and a Chesapeake Bay Retriever in the campground next to us. They didn't say much. We tried to bark at them to get their attention. (Momma yelled at us for that. Uhhh, sorry, Mom.) The CBR had to stay in a crate all weekend and only got to get out a few times a day. We felt sorry for her. I think only once did we see her Daddy take her for a walk on the hiking trails.

Cass was such a good girl! Momma crated her at night and she didn't potty even once in her crate! She went for walks with us, but she had to be carried most of the time. She got worn out easy because of her short little legs. Plus it was way hot.

The Beagley girls kept an eye on the other campsites. You can see them in the picture Momma took while they were on lookout. We are all on tethers when we're lounging around the campsite. Its a rule there. They got so worn out being on lookout that they had to take a nap in the gravel around the fire ring. Is gravel comfortable to beagles? I don't get it. I like the cool grass.

Another rule that we think is yukky is that they are only going to allow 2 pets per campsite after this year. What kind of rule is that! Lady doesn't care, cuz she doesn't go camping any more (heat's too hot for her since she's old). But the rest of us are wondering, who is going to have to stay home!

Momma's all upset about that. She says that last year her and Daddy voted for the tax renewal for the state parks program. Now that they got that renewed, they are charging $2 more per night, and they're going to kick some of the dogs out!

We realize that some hoomans don't like dogs. (We don't understand it, but we realize it as a truth). Our Momma always cleans up after us and makes sure we aren't bothering other campers. If there are doggies with bad hoomans that don't do that, maybe they should ask them to leave instead of kicking us rule-abiding, tax-paying canines out.

Pardon me while I step down off my soap-crate.

All in all, it was a fab weekend. We played ball (even Cass did), took hikes, slept a lot, and ate food off the BBQ. Yumm, Yumm!

Till next blog,
Whoofs & Baroos,
Eddie

Campin'

Oh Our Dogness! We've been camping for 5 days. A camper full of canines. How fun is that. Even Cass went! She did so good. she didn't potty in the camper even once. Momma says she has already crate trained herself. She's so smart. She deserves a very special home.

We'll post later after we get some rest and post some pics from our trip. Couldn't post from the campground, no computer there.
Bark at ya later!

Camping Trip

We camped. It was like a dog park! Momma's brother and sister-in-law, Tim and Nancy were there with their two German Shepherds, Rance and Carley. Daddy's son, John was there with his Mom's new yellow lab puppy, Dino. There's a picture of me getting acquainted with him. And of course, me and Peaches were there. Such fun!

There's a picture of me looking through the window of the camper. That's when I got grounded for barking too much while the humans were grilling and trying to eat their supper. All I wanted was to help... them finish their meals. Rance and Carley headed back home Saturday morning. Saturday afternoon, the rest of us hounds went for a walk in the woods while Dad and John went out on a fishing boat. There's a picture of Peaches panting. It was really hot and humid and we all panted a lot.

Friday Peaches' belly got all bloated up like she had swallowed a whole cantaloupe. She was crying a lot. She almost got taken to the doggie E.R. She started having gas - ooh smelly gas, though and felt some better. On Saturday she had bad poopies all day, just like Joe Stains after he ate the hot dog (Check out Joe Stains dog blog. He's way cool.) By Sunday, she was her usual self.

We slept hard on the way home on our pink blankie in the back seat of the truck. Patrick rode there with us too in his travel cage. Momma says it was too hot for him to travel in the camper like he usually does.

See ya'll another time.
Love, Eddie

Goin Campin

Bella was so funny today. Momma has a tarp over the puppy pen to be sure they have plenty of shade (as if 2 giant maple trees aren't enough). Anyway, she had it pulled back for a while, and Bella climbed in for a nap. Like it was a doggie hammock! Hah. Everyone got a kick out of it. Why didn't we think of that, Peaches? Bella is so smart!

The house painting is almost finished! Momma says we get to go camping. Yippee! Mom and Dad took Bella and her babies over to Auntie Jan's tonight. Auntie Jan is going to puppysit them. We already miss them. I, Eddie, am their guardian Uncle and I worry that they'll be okay. Momma says that Auntie Jan has raised puppies before and she will take good care of them.

Lady has been slow lately and the heat might bother her, so she is going to stay at Grandmas while we're gone. Momma and Dad are worried that the heat will be too much for her since she's so old. So, it'll just be me, Eddie, and Peaches, and our green, feathered brother Patrick the screamer.

We will blog when we get back. Luv you all. Have a great rest-of-the-week.
