Lady's passing

Lady went over the Rainbow bridge October 1st. She became so frail, lost her sight, hearing and most of her mind. She fell a lot and ran into the doors and walls all the time. Daddy said she wasn't really in there. We miss her, but we know that she is happy now, running free, playing in a field with Oscar Airdale and others who have crossed over.
Daddy was remembering when Lady adopted him. She showed up at his house about 16 years ago and just wouldn't leave. He had no choice but to let her stay. He knew he was her chosen one. They were pretty tight buds all those years.

Daddy's eyes have been leaky, but we've been helping lick up the drips. Bella is an extra good snuggler, and she has been putting in lots of overtime doing snuggle therapy.

Sorry we've been gone so long. Momma has been busy. Our Grandma moved in with us. Momma and Poppa built a room for her. She has her own mini kitchen and bathroom and everything. Its cool. Every now and then we get to go to her place, but mostly Momma sez no, that we should leave her alone. Of course, our cousin Buddy, Grandma's dog, moved with her, so she is here, too. Its been busy. We're all trying to figure out how we fit together with this new arrangement.

We're trying to figure out how to get Grandma to give us jerky treats more. Tee Hee!

Our new friend Snoutbeagle gave us a thinker award! We are so honored it made us BArooooOOOO! It made Peaches blush.Bella says, "Who us?" We think Diesel must've seen our Poppa's bumper sticker that says, "My beagle is smarter than your honor student." Hah! Not really. Diesel says he awarded us the award cuz of our link to BREW, Beagle Rescue Education and Welfare, an organization to find forever homes for discarded beagles and help educate their new families about caring for them. Diesel was adopted from BREW!

Here are the rules attached to the Thinking Blogger Award:

1. You must write a post with links to 5 blogs that make you think. (No squirrel or cat blogs, they'll just make you hungry.)
2. Acknowledge and link to this post.
3. Optional: Proudly display the 'Thinking Blogger Award' with a link to the post that you wrote.
4. Tell your humans to fork over the treats

We are awarding this award (is that redundant?) to Tatum Tot, a real thinker pup who is going to school, Abby of Abby & Sophie because Abby went to puppy school, agility beagle Xsara because she does lots of learnin' to do all that obstacle stuff so well, Camry the Guide Dog Puppy because, well, need we explain??? And last but most definately not least, Mitch of Maggie & Mitch. We remember how hard he worked last fall learning to climb the stairs. He is such a smart boy!

We chose these thinking doggies because their peoples believe in getting them an education. Its the only way for a dog to get ahead these days. Otherwise, if people and their pups don't learn how to communicate, everyone just gets mad, and lots of doggies end up in shelters.

Me (Eddie), Lady and Bella were rescues. Luckily our new Momma and Poppa learned how to communicate with us so we can all get along better. Peaches has just been a spoiled rotten brat child since birth. Its pathetic.
BTW, No pics of me tonight. Momma just attacked me with the clippers and cut all my hair off. I'm going to have to put on my blue cammo fleece suit that Butchy & Snickers' Momma made me to stay warm!

Eddie

Baby Casey Update

Casey's Poppa sent this picture of her to our Momma. As you can see, Casey is doing a great job getting comfy on the sofa. We hear that she loves her little people siblings and is doing well. She's still having a little trouble with the potty thing, there's an accident every now and then, and she chews on stuff and mostly she likes to 'share' the little peoples' snacks with them.

She is loved, and we're sure she is giving lots of love, too.

Back from Grammies, Tag 7, Autumn Leaves

Hi, Everyone! Our Momma's home so we can blog now. :-> We had fun raking leaves, uh, okay, playing while Momma raked leaves. Watch...

Bella in the Leaves

Eddie in the Leaves

Grammy is doing really good with her new knee. She is home from the hospital and walks around her house. But Momma sez she walks around really slowly. Our cousin Ricky is guarding her and lays right by her all the time. He's such a good caretaker. We were wondering if we took all our stuffies to this same hospital if they could give them new stuffings and stich em shut like they did Grammy's knee. Momma sez no.

We were asked to post a picture of Lady's tail, too. We posted the rest of our tails a couple weeks ago. Here's lady's little tail. Its kind of a 2/3 tail. She does more of a flicka-flicka-flicka with it than wagging it.Lady's Tail

Our Key West Collie friends tagged us for Tag 7. Ears the rules...

Here are the rules for Tag 7:

* Link to the person who tagged you and post the rules on your blog
* Share 7 random and/or weird facts about yourself
* Tag 7 random people at the end of your post & include links to their blogs
* Let them know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their blog.

Hmmm. Seven weird facts about us. We will try.
1 - I, Eddie, am a Beagle x Westie cross so Momma and Poppa call me a Beastie.
2 - Peaches looks smaller than Bella, but is actually a half inch taller when they're standing side-by-side.
3 - Peaches likes lettuce. Okay, the rest of us like carrots, apples, green beans, stuff like that. But LETTUCE! Pleeeze!

4 - I, Eddie, am 4 years old, Peaches is 2, Bella is 1. When you add those up you get 7 which is the 2nd digit in Lady's age: 17! Its dogmath. That's difrent than new math. You have to use all your paws and some whiskurs.
5 - Me and Poppa are the only 2 guys in the house. We are surrounded by girls: Momma, Peaches, Bella and Lady.
6 - I, Eddie, Like wearing clothes, but not costumes for Howl-o-ween.
7 - Last but not the least, Peaches hates car rides. I think this is totally funny. Me, Bella & Lady LOVE car rides. We beg to go along. Peaches runs when she sees coats going on and keys being picked up. What is up with that? Hmmm?

We haven't got to catch up on blogs lately so some of you might have already been tagged. If you have, nevermind. We tag Butchy & Snickers, Gus, Kathryn & Pippa, Frazier, The Secret Schnoodles, Abbey & Sophia, and Randy. We will get caught up with all of your blogs and more real soon.

Pooches smooches to you all!
Eddie.

Tales of Tails

We just loved the Secret Schnoodles' blog about their tails! What fun. So we thought we'd blog about ours!

Here's Bella's tail! Its kinda blurry because its always moving..... fast!

Tried again. Its still blurry. Well, that's what you get with a beagle with a happy tail!

A Two-Fur one. Momma got me and Peaches together.

See Peaches heart on her butt? Momma sometimes calls her "My little valentine." How mushy. Can you say "Awwwww"?

Let's see your tails!

Miss Casey

Pretty Casey at 5 1/2 months old.She's such a lover-girl.
She moves around too fast for the camera! Oops, just missed her!

Did we see this one already? Oh well, its a nice picture. She's sooo pwetty! Look at her coat shine. Her new family has taken excellent care of her.
Can you see Casey? She is trying to get her ball out of the chair. The little person who wants to be a doggie dentist is there in the room with her. Casey really loves her family, and they love her. At least we have 1 happy ending for Bella's babies!

Thank you, Kind Friends

Bella Noodling in Poppa's Lap for Comfort

We thank you for all your kind encouragement during our time of sadness. The DWB community is so supportive.

Momma is going tomorrow to visit Casey. She promises to take pictures to post on the blog. Her family said she passed the ultimate 'kid' test yesterday. One of her kid-brothers pried her mouth open and tried to tickle her tonsils and she didn't fuss one bit. What a good girl she was.

The family has used the episode as a learning tool for the young child of how NOT to treat the dog. Casey has used the episode as a learning tool of when to stay away from the child.Peaches in mourning for her niece.

We're still sad, but moving along now.

Class, Yeah, we got Class!

Oh our dogness. Momma has decided that we are heathens. We don't know why she would think that. Could it be the trash episode. Could it be that everyone who comes over says ouch instead of hello (ouch because we jump up on them and our little toenails scratch their legs). Could it be because Bella jumps up on the kitchen table? Could it be because we dash past them when they're going up or down the stairs? We could go on, of course, but we haven't the time to list all of them.

Okay, so Momma is right. We're heathens.

Momma has always wanted to try those Agility games, but it hasn't worked out that she had the right dog.

I, Peaches, was supposed to be Momma's agility dog, but I really hate traveling in the car (it makes me toss my kibble), and I don't like heights or anything that isn't inside my backyard. Oh, how can I stand camping? Well, because I know our camper, and our patio mat, and lawn chairs, and the BBQ grill that all the great food
comes off of. So its just like home.

I, Eddie, can't do it because I have a bad back. Can't do the jumping and stuff. Uh uh. No way!

So, Here comes Bella who likes to jump up on the kitchen table from the floor, (just like a cat) and isn't afraid of anything. Momma says she just lacks manners. Last night Bella had to go to her first doggie manners class. Haa haa! We'll let her tell ya.

Hi, Bella here. It was really cool. We met other dogs, big and little, hairy and not as hairy. No two alike. There was even a Joe Stains dog there! His name is Walter. He is pretty cool.

Everyone was so excited to meet everyone else. But then this lady and her way-too-calm lab mix started talking to our people and next thing you know, they're making us not jump up on them, and we had to walk without pulling on the leash, and we had to sit when they said so and we weren't allowed to run through the open doorway till they said we could! Hmmmph. When I did good, Momma gave me a treat. Mmmmm.

Momma says we have to practice a lot. So we practiced tonight when she got home from work. Surprises to Eddie & Peaches, too. She made them do the same things! Haa haa haa haa haa! I could hardly stop cracking up!

Enjoy your week!

Campin Review

Yep, we went campin' again. This time we went to Wallace State Park here in NW Missouri. It didn't take us long to drive there. Mom and Dad say that gas costs too much to camp too far away. But, it was fun. We had a great time.

Mostly we watched other doggeriffic people. There was a Cocker Spaniel and a Chesapeake Bay Retriever in the campground next to us. They didn't say much. We tried to bark at them to get their attention. (Momma yelled at us for that. Uhhh, sorry, Mom.) The CBR had to stay in a crate all weekend and only got to get out a few times a day. We felt sorry for her. I think only once did we see her Daddy take her for a walk on the hiking trails.

Cass was such a good girl! Momma crated her at night and she didn't potty even once in her crate! She went for walks with us, but she had to be carried most of the time. She got worn out easy because of her short little legs. Plus it was way hot.

The Beagley girls kept an eye on the other campsites. You can see them in the picture Momma took while they were on lookout. We are all on tethers when we're lounging around the campsite. Its a rule there. They got so worn out being on lookout that they had to take a nap in the gravel around the fire ring. Is gravel comfortable to beagles? I don't get it. I like the cool grass.

Another rule that we think is yukky is that they are only going to allow 2 pets per campsite after this year. What kind of rule is that! Lady doesn't care, cuz she doesn't go camping any more (heat's too hot for her since she's old). But the rest of us are wondering, who is going to have to stay home!

Momma's all upset about that. She says that last year her and Daddy voted for the tax renewal for the state parks program. Now that they got that renewed, they are charging $2 more per night, and they're going to kick some of the dogs out!

We realize that some hoomans don't like dogs. (We don't understand it, but we realize it as a truth). Our Momma always cleans up after us and makes sure we aren't bothering other campers. If there are doggies with bad hoomans that don't do that, maybe they should ask them to leave instead of kicking us rule-abiding, tax-paying canines out.

Pardon me while I step down off my soap-crate.

All in all, it was a fab weekend. We played ball (even Cass did), took hikes, slept a lot, and ate food off the BBQ. Yumm, Yumm!

Till next blog,
Whoofs & Baroos,
Eddie

Campin'

Oh Our Dogness! We've been camping for 5 days. A camper full of canines. How fun is that. Even Cass went! She did so good. she didn't potty in the camper even once. Momma says she has already crate trained herself. She's so smart. She deserves a very special home.

We'll post later after we get some rest and post some pics from our trip. Couldn't post from the campground, no computer there.
Bark at ya later!

Mmmmm Yummy Pawsicles

Mmmmmm. Momma made the pawsicle recipe that was on "The Dogs of Jackman Ave" dogblog. Man, were they good! Jackson, you are a lucky, lucky dog. We all got some, except the puppies. Momma didn't know if it would be okay for their young tummies.

We're counting down. Its only a week away from Casey the puppy going to her new home. Her family is excited, though, and we're glad that they're still looking forward to having Casey. We don't want anyone to have adopters remorse.

Momma says she has a prospect for Cass and for Lewis. She has told people to think hard about it. She doesn't want anyone changing their minds later, and having one of our babies ending up in a shelter like Bella did. Puppies are hard work. There's no way around it. I know me and Peaches having been working round the clock taking care of these three! Shew.

Enjoy the pictures. Enjoy your weekends.
Luv ya all lots.
Wuffs and Baroos,
Eddie

New sister's new name

Our new sister has been named! Daddy named her "Bella." We like the name. It fits her. She looks like the old world kind of beagle. She does have a longer snout, and crookeddy legs, and a longer-than-normal tail for a beagle, but we love her anyway.
Mom and Dad were feeling her tummy this morning. They said they feel babies in there wrasslin' around.
Mom's going to the store today to get stuff to make a whelping box for Bella to have her babies in. The doggie doctor thought she was 1-2 weeks from having her babies, but Mom thinks its sooner. she is getting full teats already, and her bottom is getting droopy.

Everyone here is getting along fine. Bella has fit right into our routine. She likes to bark at the neighbors and trucks going down the street (from inside our fence, of course), and at the mailman when he comes to our box. She's lots of fun.
Thought for the day: Be a friend. Someone might need one.

NEW SISTER, AAAAND CUZZINS!!!

Mom came home from work today and told us we are getting a new sister. And, she is going to have puppies in a couple weeks.
You never know how your day is going to turn out, do you!

While on the way to work, Mom stopped for gas and there was a poster someone put up with pictures of a beagle who had showed up at this lady's doorstep. The lady was trying to find the owner, or find a home for the beagle. She has Golden Retrievers and could not keep the beagle.

So, long story short, Mom adopted beagle and is bringing her home tomorrow. She is at the vets overnight for observation, deworming, vet check-up and to be sure she doesn't bring home any icky sicknesses to us.

We can't wait to meet her. Mom says she's just a little smaller than sissy Peaches and doesn't have any white on her face. She is very light boned, like Peaches which is more like the UKC hunting type beagles instead of the stockier AKC show ring types. Mom says she's really sweet and likes to give hugs and kisses, too.

Okay, Peaches is a little sad. She has been Momma's baby for the past year and now, there are going to be a lot of babies running around... till Momma finds them homes with nice families. I, Eddie, know that Momma will still love us just as much and it'll be okay.

We have no idea what her name is, or how old she is. The vet told Momma that he thinks she is between 1 and 3 years old. Hmm, that's a big range.

We hope she likes us. We are going to go pick out a collar for her tonight so she will have clothes to wear home. Momma says she didn't have a stitch of clothing on. So sad.

We will take a picture for you all to meet her online when we have her here at home.
