Eddie Meets a Puppy

I got to meet one of Bella's puppies! It was so exciting. Mom was holding one of them while sitting in Bella's pen with the door open. I slowly and quietly walked up. Bella didn't seem to care, so Mom let me approach. I got to sniff the baby! It was so exciting it made my tail wag. Bella kept a close watch while I sniffed, and I didn't stay long.

I got to sniff puppy #1, a girl. Mom and Dad have started calling her "Miss Piggy" because she eats so much and she's getting a big round belly. She's really cute, but they still don't really look like dogs, or even little dogs.

Tonight Mom had a panic that one of the babies was.... well, you know. Anyway, the puppy was laying on its back, belly up, all by itself on the edge of the pen. It was really cute, all belly-up and everything. When Mom figured out it was breathing, she started breathing again, too.

Bella is starting to venture out a little more from the pen. Mom leaves the gate open just wide enough for her to get in and out and she has started answering some of the 'alarms' with us that the neighbor dogs sound.

I don't have a new picture of the puppies. Momma says they still look the same and will take more pictures after their eyes open. So, I thought I'd post a picture of my Grandpa and me. Grandpa came to visit last weekend after the babies were born. I think he still likes me more, though.
Everyone have a fabulous day!

NEW BABIES ARRIVE!

The new babies are here! Oh my gosh! Two girls and one boy. We're glad she didn't have too many, because we can only count to 4 using our paws. Me, Eddie, and Peaches knew something was up yesterday, because Bella didn't want her dinner, and she was fidgety and panting a lot and it wasn't even hot outside. Luckily, Mom had made a whelping area for her yesterday. She searched all over town for a store selling the hard, plastic kiddies wading pool. Then, she dug around in the garage for scraps of boards and 2 x 4s. Daddy was at work and couldn't help her. He felt so bad leaving all that to Mom.

The first one was born at 11:24 pm, then at 12:05 am, then 12:53 am. Bella is a very good Mommie. She licks her babies clean and keeps them gathered up close to her belly.

The babies
don't even sound like dogs. We think Bella had little mice instead. They make little whimpers, grunts and whines. They don't even BARK! They came out all black, except 2 of them have white on their chests, and they all have white toes. Their little faces are smashed in, their ears are stuck on the side of their heads, and they won't open their eyes. They're really not much fun at all. I try to get close to get a better look, but Bella doesn't want me to. She grrrs till I get away. Peaches doesn't care. She's just worried about losing more of Mom & Dad's attention. Our old sister, Lady, was pacing last night while it was all going on. She was a worried new auntie. Enjoy the birthing pictures and have a great day.

New sister's new name

Our new sister has been named! Daddy named her "Bella." We like the name. It fits her. She looks like the old world kind of beagle. She does have a longer snout, and crookeddy legs, and a longer-than-normal tail for a beagle, but we love her anyway.
Mom and Dad were feeling her tummy this morning. They said they feel babies in there wrasslin' around.
Mom's going to the store today to get stuff to make a whelping box for Bella to have her babies in. The doggie doctor thought she was 1-2 weeks from having her babies, but Mom thinks its sooner. she is getting full teats already, and her bottom is getting droopy.

Everyone here is getting along fine. Bella has fit right into our routine. She likes to bark at the neighbors and trucks going down the street (from inside our fence, of course), and at the mailman when he comes to our box. She's lots of fun.
Thought for the day: Be a friend. Someone might need one.

Meet our new sister

This is our new sister. We don't know her name. Daddy is thinking of a name for her. There are babies in her belly making it big.
She checked out good at the doggie doctor and so Mom brought her home today. Mom has her on the patio with a piece of lattice between her and the yard. We're only getting to sniff each other through the lattice right now. So far, she seems nice. We think we like her. We think she likes us, too.
The vet thought she was between 1 & 3 years old. Based on her Beagley coloring, Momma thinks she's barely a year old. Tri-color beagles, like Peaches and her, start out black and white with only a few specks of tan. They gradually change. First their head gets tan, then their ears, then shoulders & hips. Her head is tan, but she still has some black hairs on her ears. Her hips & shoulders are barely changing yet.
Here's a picture of Daddy meeting her, too, when he came home for dinner break from work.

NEW SISTER, AAAAND CUZZINS!!!

Mom came home from work today and told us we are getting a new sister. And, she is going to have puppies in a couple weeks.
You never know how your day is going to turn out, do you!

While on the way to work, Mom stopped for gas and there was a poster someone put up with pictures of a beagle who had showed up at this lady's doorstep. The lady was trying to find the owner, or find a home for the beagle. She has Golden Retrievers and could not keep the beagle.

So, long story short, Mom adopted beagle and is bringing her home tomorrow. She is at the vets overnight for observation, deworming, vet check-up and to be sure she doesn't bring home any icky sicknesses to us.

We can't wait to meet her. Mom says she's just a little smaller than sissy Peaches and doesn't have any white on her face. She is very light boned, like Peaches which is more like the UKC hunting type beagles instead of the stockier AKC show ring types. Mom says she's really sweet and likes to give hugs and kisses, too.

Okay, Peaches is a little sad. She has been Momma's baby for the past year and now, there are going to be a lot of babies running around... till Momma finds them homes with nice families. I, Eddie, know that Momma will still love us just as much and it'll be okay.

We have no idea what her name is, or how old she is. The vet told Momma that he thinks she is between 1 and 3 years old. Hmm, that's a big range.

We hope she likes us. We are going to go pick out a collar for her tonight so she will have clothes to wear home. Momma says she didn't have a stitch of clothing on. So sad.

We will take a picture for you all to meet her online when we have her here at home.

Wow. We had our site under another very similar name. Then Eddie lost our password. He blames me, but I know it wasn't my job to keep track. Maybe we should've asked Lady to keep track. She's the old sensible one.

Our wirey friends, Butchy & Snickers tried to help us, but without our password, we were just helpless. Thanks, guys. If you want to check out their spot, its really cool, here's their address:
http://butchyandsnickers.blogspot.com/ They're really good at blogging. We're just learning.

So, we're back on and having fun. What's that? Barooo, Baroo.

Eddie here. Had to take over because Peaches ran outside to bay at the neighbors cat. It likes to sit under their car in the driveway and stare at her while she barks through the fence. She's so gullable. That cat does that every night. Will she ever learn that it is just torturing her on purpose. Hah.

So, look for more stuff.

Here We Are...

Hiya All. Eddie & Peaches Here.
I'm Eddie, the fluffy one.
I'm Peaches, the cute one with the flag tail (think beagle).

Like we said in the start, we've got it pretty good. We just don't want to talk it up too much. Don't want Mom & Dad to start slackin', maybe thinkin' they're spoiling us or something. Can't happen. We're too sweet to be rotten.

Stay Tuned.
